Although we are unable to provide alternative meal options for campers with dietary restrictions, we do have a refrigerator, freezer, microwave, and small toaster oven. Please contact us two weeks before their arrival to receive a copy of the meals planned for their week of camp. This will help you determine which foods your camper will be able to enjoy and what supplemental (pre-packaged) foods you may need to send. Your camper will have access to those items. By contacting us in advance, we will be happy to assist you with detailed instructions on the best way to prepare and package the supplemental food your camper brings.
-
Can I request a specific counselor for my camper?

Upon arrival, each camper will turn in any regularly prescribed medication to our health services staff. Each day, the camper will have the medicine readied by one of our nurses and the nurse will follow up to make sure they have taken the dosage for that day.
-
Is there someone to help my child if they get hurt or sick?
We have several registered nurses on campsite and at least one nurse on call 24 hours a day. We are also equipped with a Health Service Building that is capable of taking care of most minor injuries and illnesses. We have a great working relationship with the hospital in town should there be the need for anything our Health Service staff are not set up to handle. Be assured that we will contact you for any hospital visits.
-
How can I communicate with my child while they are at camp?
You can imagine what it would be like if we allowed 800 teenagers to keep their cell phones with them during the week of camp. In order to keep the campers from being distracted and to minimize the chance for lost or stolen phones, we ask that all cell phones be turned in to their sponsors or at the office at the beginning of the week.
If you need to get in touch with your child, you can call The Wilds office and request to speak with him or her. The office staff will coordinate a time that works with your schedule and the camp schedule for him/her to call home. You will be contacted if we are unable to house all your sponsors on the campsite.
-
Can sponsors bring their children to camp?
Limited space is available for sponsors to bring their children (ages 0–8*) during any week this summer. Because there will be no childcare provided, children will need to remain with a parent during the services and sponsor meetings.
*If your child is at least 9 years old by September 1 of that camp year, he or she will attend the junior or teen camp program.
-
Can I access the internet?
Yes. We have free wireless internet at several locations on the campsite.
-

Do I have a separate schedule from the campers?
Yes and no. There are scheduled sponsor meetings, but much of your schedule revolves around the campers. There are prayer meetings each day and recreational opportunities for sponsors as well.
-
Will I get to spend any time with my youth group?
Yes. A special hour is set aside on Thursday morning to spend time in testimony and fellowship with your group. This is also a great time to communicate any announcements to your teens regarding departure. The teens also have scheduled Freetime each day. This is a time you could look for them and check in on them. Alternatively, you could communicate with them at the beginning of the week where they could find you during Freetime each day.
-
Am I able to leave early?
The earliest you are able to leave is on Friday night, after the evening service. We do encourage you to stay until Saturday morning if possible.
-
When does a week close to new groups?
Registration for each camp will remain open until the camp is 80% filled. At that time, registration will be closed to any groups that do not have at least 5 campers registered (not including sponsors) for Teen Camp and 3 campers for Junior Boot Camp. When a week closes to groups, an email will be sent to each church registered informing them of the exact spaces available for male and female campers before starting a waiting list. Campers can be added to a church group until each available spot is taken and the waiting list begins. Teen and junior registrations are completely separate. Registering 5 or more teen campers does not register your group in Junior Boot Camp and registering 3 or more junior campers does not register your group in Teen Camp.
-
Can all our campers stay in the same cabin?
Our philosophy is based on ministering to the individual, a goal best attained by keeping only two or three campers from the same church in the same cabin. Family Reunions, a time when a church’s teen group is brought together, are held on Thursday mornings. Cabins are divided by junior high and senior high ages. Please submit roommate requests in writing at least 10 days prior to your week of camp.
-
Is it worth registering early?
Absolutely! You get a discount as well as being able to choose the week that best fits your church’s needs.
